Jesus’ Model of Discipleship: Methods, Teachings, and Mandate

Jesus’ approach to discipleship was intentional, relational, and transformational. He didn’t merely call people to believe in Him — He called them to follow Him, learn from Him, and become like Him. His model of discipleship remains the foundation for Christian growth and leadership today.

1. His Method: Relational and Life-on-Life
   Jesus chose twelve ordinary men and invited them to “Follow Me” (Matthew 4:19). He lived with them, walked with them, and shared daily life. His discipleship was not confined to synagogues or formal settings; it was immersive and personal. He modeled servanthood, humility, and obedience, allowing His disciples to witness and imitate His life.
2. His Teaching: Truth with Authority
   Jesus taught with authority (Matthew 7:28–29), using parables, sermons, and direct instruction. He emphasized the Kingdom of God, repentance, love, forgiveness, and righteousness. His teachings were not abstract; they were practical and often illustrated through real-life situations, such as the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37) or the Vine and Branches (John 15:1–8).
3. His Practical Instructions
   Jesus gave clear, actionable commands:

• “Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23)
• “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34)
• “Go, make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19–20)

He sent His disciples out in pairs (Luke 10:1), teaching them to preach, heal, and depend on God. He corrected, encouraged, and empowered them, preparing them for ministry.

4. His Examples
   Jesus washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:1–17), demonstrating servant leadership. He forgave Peter after denial, showing grace and restoration (John 21:15–19). He prayed for His disciples (John 17), modeling intercession.
5. His Command: The Great Commission
   Before ascending, Jesus gave the ultimate discipleship mandate: “Go and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20). This command is the heartbeat of Christian mission — to multiply disciples who reflect Christ in word and deed.

Jesus’ discipleship model calls believers to a life of transformation, obedience, and multiplication — a journey of becoming like Christ and leading others to do the same.

Evangelism is the act of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others, aiming to lead them into a personal relationship with Him. Practical evangelism involves applying biblical principles in real-life settings to effectively communicate the Gospel.

📖 Meaning of Evangelism

Evangelism comes from the Greek word euangelion, meaning “good news.” In the Christian context, it refers to proclaiming the message of salvation through Jesus Christ — His life, death, and resurrection — to those who have not yet believed. It is both a divine mandate and a heartfelt mission, rooted in Jesus’ command: “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19).

Practical evangelism is about living out and sharing the Gospel in everyday life. It combines verbal proclamation with visible demonstration of Christ’s love. This includes:

• Building relationships: Connecting with people genuinely to earn the right to be heard.
• Lifestyle witness: Living a Christ-like life that reflects integrity, compassion, and hope.

As Romans 10:14 says, “How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” Evangelism requires both presence and proclamation.

Welcome to the Leadership and Workers Training Program of Living Word Groundbreaking Ministry — a divine mandate designed to raise, equip, and empower faithful servants for effective ministry in the vineyard of our Lord Jesus Christ. In a time when the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few, we are committed to developing spiritually mature, doctrinally sound, and practically skilled leaders and workers who will serve with excellence, integrity, and passion.

Our training is rooted in the biblical foundation of the Five-Fold Ministry as outlined in Ephesians 4:11–12: “And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” We believe that every believer has a role in the body of Christ, and through this training, we help individuals discover, develop, and deploy their God-given gifts for kingdom service.

This program is designed to provide comprehensive instruction in all aspects of ministry, including:
